My Senior Internship
As a senior in the Nueva School for the Performing Arts program, I was given the opportunity to complete a thirty hour internship in the visual, managerial, or performing arts field. For my internship I chose to create a promotional video for Nueva that would embody what an amazing program Nueva is and visually show how The Arts are integrated into our curriculum. My mentor was Evan Johnson, who is the lab director at the C-Media Lab center in Santa Rosa.
I began collecting footage for this video during our first set of professionally-lead workshops that we had in the month of October. I then started gathering clips during rehearsals for our Fall production, Status Update. I continued the filming process throughout the school year and I even got to interview a few of the Nueva students for the video.
Overall, I got the chance to exercise my communication skills, not only with my mentor, but also with my fellow classmates. Another transferable skill that I will take away from this experience is punctuality. I had to make sure to arrive promptly each time I met with my mentor as well as show up to after school rehearsals to collect footage when I did not necessarily have to be there.
